I’m Back!
I hope.
Life has been crazy.
On top of dealing with the challenges of the pandemic, like the rest of the world. I faced a few extra challenges.
After a tough bout with pneumonia, my husband’s kidney function decreased to the point that it was determined he needed to start dialysis. We opted for daily, in-home dialysis. I had to arrange testing, surgery and trainings, all while still teaching full-time.
Just when I thought I was getting things sorted out, we learned my sister has stage 4 cancer/ Our family has rallied around her and she is fighting this battle, but it’s tough. Really tough.
Every ounce of my energy has been used to just keep my energy up enough to work and keep my family whole.
Needless to say, my writing has taken a back burner to everything else in my life.
I would get some words in every few weeks. The story ideas are still there, floating around in my head, but I just didn’t have the energy to get it from my head to the page.
I also haven’t had a website or a blog for a long time. My website provider decided to shut down and transfer all its hosting to a provider I wasn’t very interested in using. I decided to start all over again but, I didn’t know where to begin. Sometimes, when I come upon these obstacles I just can’t get out of the rut and I freeze.
I’ve been able to rebuild the website (with help of an expert) and now I feel my creativity coming back.
I’m ready to write again. I have a couple of projects I’ve been flirting with and I really hope to get them done this year.
I want to get the final book finished in my vampire series. I also have a fantasy romance that is about halfway completed. Both of them are speaking to me and I know I can get them done if I crack down and write. The issue is, I don’t know which one to tackle first.
Finishing the vampire series will give me a real sense of accomplishment. It will also finish off the series and give me a sense of closure.
The romance is a stand alone novel (for now) but may turn into a series (because that seems to be how I roll). It’s the book that’s closest to being done right now, but I know I will be headed down a rabbit hole because inspiration for the series is bouncing around in my head.
I also have three books to finish in my Haven Novel series. The series is my first love. The books are all outlined and I know where they are going to end up. I’m excited for the story developing around the Taylor family Saga. I know I need to get back to them before I start any other projects.
So, what advice do you have for me, dear followers.
- Should I put all my focus in the Vampire series until I finish it? And then finish the Romance? I think, if I focused each of them would take about 3 months each to get them ready for editors and proofread.
- Should I balance my energy between the Vampire and Romance novel and get them out at nearly the same time?
- Should I focus on my vampire novel, get it done and then get back to my Haven Series? I can work on the romance sporadically so the first book comes out AFTER I finish the Haven Novel series. That way I finish the series I have started before I put out a new (possible) series.
Any of these scenarios gets me back to writing. I miss getting words on the page.
Let me know what you think I should do in the comments.
